Bangalore are having a season to forget in the inaugural edition of the Women's T20 League. The franchise performed exceptionally well in the players' auction that preceded the season's start. They robbed in star players, including India's Smriti Mandhana, who remained the costliest player of the auction going for a whopping 3.40 crores. However, when it comes to the players' value on the pitch, Ellyse Perry is easily outscoring Mandhana.

Perry has so far been Bangalore's most valuable player (MVP), with two back-to-back half-centuries in the games against Delhi and UP. In Wednesday's game against UP, Ellyse Perry also contributed with the ball picking up three wickets in her four overs and conceding just 16 runs.

Bangalore have lost the first five games of the league. In the ongoing game against UP, Bangalore find their best chance to open their account in the league. The UP side could only conjure 135 runs before being bowled out with three balls to go in their quota of 20 overs. Ellyse Perry remained the star with the ball for Bangalore, but besides her, Sophie Devine and Sobhana Asha both extended their best efforts returning with two wickets each.

For UP, Grace Harris remained the star with the willow knocking 46 in 32 deliveries with two fours and one maximum. Kiran Navgire and Deepti Sharma both contributed handy 22 runs each taking Gujarat to a respectable total of 135.

If Bangalore ends up winning this game, they'll still mathematically be in contest to qualify for the playoffs of the inaugural Women's T20 League. However, they'll also have to depend on results from Mumbai and Delhi, who must win all of their games for Bangalore to qualify. Speaking of other teams, Mumbai are still atop the standing with 10 points from five games, closely followed by Delhi with eight points from five games.

Here's how fans reacted to Ellyse Perry's single-handed efforts for Bangalore:
