‘Kitne paise liye Kohli bhai?’ - Fans react as Virat Kohli says how he viewed 'hype' around Rohit Sharma early on in his career

Virat Kohli is getting ready for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, starting from 7-11 June at the Oval, England against Australia. In 2021, Kohli had a chance to win this tournament but India lost against New Zealand. Currently, Rohit Sharma is leading the side but Kohli will look to put his hands on the Test mace this time around.

Speaking of Kohli and Rohit, both are coming off having a contrasting IPL season for their respective franchises. Kohli managed to hit two centuries, six fifties as he scored 639 runs in 14 matches. While Rohit scored just 332 runs in 16 matches, including two fifties only. But, ahead of this clash, the former skipper heaped high praise on Rohit and listening to that, fans shared their views.

In an interview with the Apex Council of Cricket, Kohli said: "Rohit…umm, I have always said that he has got more time than anyone on the ball. And that is the special ability he has from day one. When I saw him playing for the very first time, I understood what the hype was all about and why he was rated so highly. And what he has done in White ball cricket for a long period, we all knew but the way he has performed in tests over the last 3-4 years is, you know, a testimony of his temperament towards playing Test cricket and having the belief that he can do it in tests at the highest level.”

“Opening is not an easy job and he has done a wonderful job, opening for us in the last 3-4 years. So, he really has performed well in all formats of the game for us, in the recent past. He is someone, when you watch him play, enjoy watching him. I have had amazing partnerships with him and thoroughly enjoyed watching him from the other end when he is going great guns. As I said, he performed really well in these conditions and got a hundred at the Oval. Hopefully, he can repeat such a performance again in this final," he further concluded.

No offence but that was past. Considering the current form, Rohit Sharma doesn’t qualify to play this test (as a batsman). He looks so tired. Needs rest for couple of months.
