David Warner is leading the Delhi franchise this time around as Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of the tournament. However, he failed to guide the team to victory in their season opener against the Lucknow franchise. In that match, Warner smashed 56 runs off 48 balls, including seven fours.
But, fans were not happy with the pace of his innings. His strike rate was an issue as the team was chasing 194 runs in 20 overs. So, fans were hoping to see David Warner perform better in the second game against Gujarat. On 4 April, they took on the defending champion at the Arun Jaitley stadium.
David Warner scored 37 runs off 32 balls against Gujarat
Speaking of the match, Hardik Pandya won the toss and asked Delhi to bat first. For them, the skipper, David Warner, and Prithvi Shaw came out to open the innings. But, again, he disappointed his fans as Warner scored 37 runs off 32 balls. Alzarri Joseph took his wicket and fans slammed him for his slow innings. His strike rate has been a concern in these last two matches. Speaking of Delhi’s innings, they scored 162 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs.
Axar Patel scored 36 runs off 22 balls and Sarfaraz Khan scored 30 runs off 34 balls. For Gujarat, both Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan took three wickets each. After the loss against Lucknow, David Warner said: “It was a bit of a challenge. We had some early momentum with the fast bowlers, they bowled very well in the powerplay. A few dropped catches and the momentum shifted there but you can’t take anything away from Lucknow. They batted very very well. I thought 170 was par but they did an exceptional job. Momentum is a big thing in this game. Don’t take it away from Wood, he’s an exceptional bowler and he showed his true talent tonight. I feel on this wicket you’re playing on two different surfaces from either end.”

Warner should seriously retire now, this is getting ugly, such a walking wicket in test cricket , has lost his opening slot in odi’s and has been so mediocre in t20s
