"It is Shubman Gill. He is the guy," said Kevin as he backed the GT batter to do well in the T20 WC 2024. The former England batter considered the IPL form of the youngster and backed him as a prime player for India in the upcoming major T20 tournament. He further spoke about England winning the T20 World Cup in 2010 in the Caribbean islands.

Kevin felt that beating Australia to win the tournament in front of the Barbados crowd was very special. "Winning the World Cup in the Caribbean against Australia in the middle of the Barbados crowd was very special," claimed the former England batter. In the big win for England, Pietersen was the leading wicket-taker and played great knocks in the tournament for the 2-time champions.

'The players are good enough to replicate in the World Cup' - Kevin Pietersen

The winner of the T20 World Cup 2010 felt that peaking at the right time would be key for the players in a multi-team tournament. Kevin added that IPL would be key for the players. "It's all about people who will perform at the right time. And that's going to happen in April and May during the IPL. We'll see who's performing the best," added Pietersen.

Kevin was of the opinion that the wickets in the West Indies and the USA would be similar to that in India and hence backed Indian players to do well. "The players are good enough to replicate in the World Cup. The conditions are pretty similar to what is here in India actually. There will be very low bounce wickets. It takes some spin, but they are also beautiful wickets," Pietersen added.
