Team India will lock horns with Australia in the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final at the Oval, starting from 7-11 June 2023. However, the Men in Blue are going to miss Rishabh Pant this time around as he is still recovering from the injury setback. However, there was a noise of KL Rahul being played as the wicketkeeper.

But, he also got ruled out after the injury, sustained during IPL 2023. Then, Ishan Kishan got included in the squad and now, fans are still wondering whether India will go with Ishan or KS Bharat. However, Bharat has been the second wicket-keeping choice for them in recent series and has played four Tests so far. But, now, ahead of the mega clash, he opened up about the chat he had with MS Dhoni during the recently concluded IPL.

“The awareness he has in keeping is outstanding.” - KS Bharat on MS Dhoni

In a recent interview with Sanjana Ganesan to the Apex Council of Cricket, Bharat said: “Recently during the IPL I had a word with Mahendra. He (talked about) his experiences keeping in England as well as what would work the best for any wicket-keeper. It was a very good conversation and there were a lot of insights from that.”

“It’s the awareness – the best example is MS Dhoni, the awareness he has in keeping is outstanding. You need intent and passion to be a keeper, because keeping is a thankless job. You keep 90 overs in a Test day and you have to be concentrating ball by ball, so you have to accept the challenges and embrace it and be really passionate about contributing to the team,” he added. Listening to such statements, fans were not happy and they came up with cheeky replies on social media. In four matches so far for the Men in Blue, Bharat has scored 101 runs and managed eight dismissals (seven catches and one stumping). He made his debut in the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India against Australia.
