Rohit Sharma is currently enjoying a great time as the skipper of team India. The Men in Blue have already gained an unassailable lead over the Aussies in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. So, fans were happy with his captaincy attributes along with his form with the bat as Rohit also hit a century in the series opener.
However, Rohit Sharma has been a great captain for the Mumbai franchise in the Indian T20 League. The franchise is the most successful team with five titles under his captaincy. Now, the former skipper of the Kolkata franchise, Gautam Gambhir also opened up about his experiences with skipper Rohit during the Indian T20 League.
“The only captain who gave me sleepless nights was Rohit Sharma.” - Gautam Gambhir
In the second Test between India and Australia, Gambhir was busy with his commentary stint with Star Sports. During that, the former India batter said that Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh would have been two players whom he would have wanted to include in the Kolkata franchise to bolster the squad.
He said: “It's a difficult question, but the answer is very simple. If I have to pick two players, I have an easy answer. My first player would be Rohit Sharma, and second would be Yuvraj Singh. I didn't need any other player apart from these two. I'm not saying we would be having a perfect team, but we would've won more than two titles (if we had these two players.). Rohit and I would open, Robin Uthappa at 3, Suryakumar Yadav at 4, Yuvraj at 5, Yusuf Pathan at 6 and Andre Russell at 7. You can imagine what a team that would have been. We tried our best to get Yuvraj, but that couldn't happen.”
He also added that Rohit is the only captain that gave him sleepless nights during that tournament. “The only captain who gave me sleepless nights was Rohit Sharma. I didn't need to make plans for anyone else, nor did I think much about others. Yuvraj, I think, is India's greatest white-ball cricketer, not just because of his player of the series performance in the World Cup, but because of his vast talent and ability,” Gambhir added. After such statements, fans went crazy and shared their funny views on the social media platform.
