The World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 found its conclusion with the marquee one-off final between India and Australia that took place between June 7 and 11 at the Oval, London. The Aussies came off as victors by a huge margin of 209 runs. On the other hand, the heartbreak continued for Team India and Indian fans as they lost their second consecutive WTC final.
The WTC 2023-25 cycle is the next one to follow. As such, it kicks off with the coveted Ashes 2023, a five-Test series between England and Australia. As for India, the next cycle of the WTC kicks off with the two Tests against West Indies in their multi-format tour starting in July. Team India will be playing two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is. The tour kicks off on July 12 with the first Test.
Josh Tongue and Travis Head: Key names from the current generation
As such, popular Cricket Portal EPSN Cricinfo came up with a hilarious ‘Anatomical XI’ which featured players who share names with a human body part. The openers in the XI were Micheal Chin and Salman Butt. The top order was completed with Travis Head batting at number three. Going further down the order, Doug Insole, Graeme Beard and Miriam Knee made up the middle order, including names from the world of women’s cricket as well.
Up next, William Back and David Brain took up the positions of allrounders. Although both specialized in using the red cherry they were known for the cameos they put up with the willow. For the bowling positions, firstly one of Henry Foot, Charles Foot, or Anthony Foot was asked to be picked by the audience. At the same time, Josh Tongue and Fionn Hand rounded up the attack.
Photos of the viral ‘Anatomical XI’ have done rounds on social media with fans coming up with hilarious responses. Most were targeted funnily at players like Quinton de Kock, Hardik Pandya, and Niroshan Dickwella for their omission from the XI given they share names with the slang of the male sexual organ.
Here’s how fans reacted:
