‘Jyada Cocky maat bano Bhajji paji!’ - Fans go berserk as Harbhajan Singh predicts the result of Border-Gavaskar Trophy

On 11 February 2023, team India managed to win the series opener against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur. Before the match, fans were wondering about the Nagpur pitch and the playing XI of team India. Former cricketers like Harbhajan Singh also came up with his predicted playing XI.

However, he took a bold decision by dropping KL Rahul from his team despite he is being the vice-captain of team India. Harbhajan picked Shubman Gill as the opening partner of Rohit Sharma while keeping Suryakumar Yadav in the middle order. The former team India off-spinner shared a video on his official YouTube channel where he claimed that If team India wants to win this Test series, then Shubman Gill should open with Rohit Sharma.

Now, on 12 February  2023, he came up with a bold prediction on the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He shared a tweet that reads: “India Will Win This Test Series 4-0, WTC Final Birth Almost Seal, Shubman Gill In Place Of KL Rahul !” Harbhajan Singh said that India are going to clean sweep the Aussies and thus, they will seal their place in the final of the World Test Championship. Again, he claimed that Shubman Gill needs to play instead of KL Rahul as another opener with skipper Rohit Sharma. India will take on Australia in the second match of the series on 17 February in Delhi.

However, before the Nagpur Test, fans slammed Harbhajan Singh for making comments on the Nagpur pitch. They also claimed that the former Indian off-spinner is jealous of Ravichandran Ashwin as he will take many wickets on that kind of surface. Now, after such a bold prediction on the series, fans again find it illogical and slammed him for being overconfident.
