India were asked to bat first on a surface that was reported a slower one. However, the way Yashasvi Jaiswal started the innings proved everyone wrong. The left-hander punished the Australian bowlers and helped the team score 77 runs in the powerplay. Although he was dismissed in the final ball of the 6th over, the baton passed on to another left-hander, Ishan Kishan.

The wicketkeeper batter notched up another quickfire fifty in the series before departing in the 16th over. Captain Suriyaumar Yadav entertained for a while as usual but it was Rinku Singh who stole the show with his scintillating finish. Rinku justified his 'finisher' tag by striking close to 350. India scored 25 and 20 runs in the 19th and 20th overs respectively, resulting in their score of 235/4.

In reply, Australia got off to a powerful start when Matthew Short came out all guns blazing. But that didn't last long as spinner Ravi Bishnoi dismissed the opener in the third over. Last match centurion Josh Inglis had a bad day at the office today as he went for a single-digit score, with Bishnoi taking another massive wicket.

With Glenn Maxwell and Steve Smith also failing to find any resistance, Australia were reduced to 58-4 in 7.2 overs. However, the Matthew Wade-led side was back on track when Tim David and Marcus Stoinis started firing. The duo put on a partnership of over 70 runs and more importantly, reduced the required run rate.

But in the 14th over, Bishnoi again came to the rescue by dismissing the dangerous David. Mukesh Kumar sent Stoinis packing in the very next over. Once India got the upper hand there, Australia couldn't make a comeback. Captain Wade contributed a bit in the latter stages but his team fell short of 44 runs.
