On 19 May 2023, Punjab Kings (PBKS) locked horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing IPL in Dharamsala. However, RR won the match and kept themselves alive in the race for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Riyan Parag scored 20 runs off 12 balls, including one four and two sixes during the successful chase of 188 runs.
But, still, some fans thrashed him for his performance as he failed to win the game for his team. Riyan Parag has now experienced another poor IPL season despite getting so much backing from the team. Now, the former Team India player, Irfan Pathan came up with a tweet to support the RR youngster.
Here is the shared tweet:
Don’t give unnecessary hate to a young player just cos he is confident in his ability.

Riyan Parag has scored 78 runs in IPL 2023
Speaking of the tweet, Pathan wrote: “Don’t give unnecessary hate to a young player just cos he is confident in his ability.” Seeing that, fans came up with some mixed reactions on social media. Speaking of Parag, in IPL 2023, he played seven matches and scored 78 runs with an average of 13. So, another disappointing season from this batter despite getting chances. RR bought him back for INR 3.8 Crore in IPL 2022. Since 2019, he is with the same franchise. Before this edition of the tournament, Parag tweeted: “My inner conscience says I’m hitting 4 sixes in an over at some point this IPL.”
But, he failed to keep his word in all the opportunities he got. Speaking of the match, PBKS batted first and scored 187 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. In reply, RR chased down the target in 19.4 overs with four wickets to spare. Devdutt Padikkal won the Player of the Match award for scoring 51 runs off 30 balls, including five fours and three sixes. Now, with 14 points, RR will hope for some other results to go in their favour as that can help them to get a place in the top four. However, they failed to get a boost over the net run rate by failing to chase down the target within or on 18.3 overs.

Absolutely. One can criticise him for underperforming but that does not give them a license to troll him.
