India and Pakistan to lock horns in 20-20 World Cup 2022

Notably, both teams haven’t played against each other in any bilateral series since 2012-13 when Pakistan visited India for a three-match T20I and three-match ODI series. Although, the two Asian Giants have faced each other in major international tournaments including ODI World Cups, Champions Trophy, and 20-20 World Cups.

Recently, Rohit’s men played against the Pakistani team in the Asia Cup 2022. Both teams played two matches including a group match and an encounter in the super-4 stage. India won the group match by a margin of five wickets whereas Babar & co. cleared off their books with the Indian team in the super-4 match when they defeated the latter by the same margin.

Now, the two teams are all set to lock horns with each other in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022 on the 23rd of October in their tournament opener at MCG in Melbourne. Earlier, Pakistan outplayed the Indians by a massive margin of 10 wickets in last year’s 20-20 World Cup.

Talking about the Indian team, they have recently replaced the injured senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah with the experienced speedster Mohammed Shami. Bumrah was ruled out of the entire tournament due to a knee injury that he sustained just before the three-match ODI series against Australia.

Bumrah’s replacement Shami has displayed a brilliant display of bowling by scalping three wickets by conceding just four in one over during the warm-up match against Australia.
