On 2 September 2023, India will lock horns with Pakistan in the ongoing Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. Pakistan already crashed Nepal in their opening fixture and they are the current number one-ranked ODI team. So, an enthralling battle awaits both teams and their respective fans. Now, an image has gone viral where a well-known Pakistani journalist, Farid Khan was seen with Team India skipper Rohit Sharma.

On the eve of the clash, Farid shared the image on Twitter and in the caption, he wrote: “Here with India captain Rohit Sharma in Kandy a day before the match between India and Pakistan! Wished him luck for the match tomorrow, great personality and very friendly too #AsiaCup23 #AsiaCup2023.” Seeing that image, fans came up and shared their views on social media.

India and Pakistan are in Group A in this tournament along with Nepal. The Men in Blue will begin their campaign on 2 September against the Men in Green while they will take on Nepal on 4 September. But, on the eve of this epic clash, the former Team India head coach, Ravi Shastri came up with a bold statement while speaking on ESPNcricinfo. He said that this current Team India are strongest since 2011. In 2011, they won the ODI World Cup in India. 

He said: "I would say India start as favourites. This is their strongest team since 2011, this mix of players. And a captain who is seasoned, who understands the terrain better than most. Having said that, Pakistan have narrowed the gap. Seven-eight years , there was a gap if you looked at the strength of both teams and man to man. But Pakistan have narrowed it down. They are a very good side, so you have to be on top of your game."
