Rishabh Pant is currently at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru as he is having his rehabilitation period for the injuries he sustained due to the horrible road accident in December 2022. On 21 July, the Indian Cricket Board shared an update regarding his progress in a released statement.
They claimed that Pant has started having batting and wicketkeeping session in nets while following a fitness programme, including strength, flexibility and running. Now, as per reported by RevSportz, the 25-year-old wicketkeeper has started to face 140 kph deliveries in net sessions at the NCA. Seeing such reports, fans shared their views on social media.
“We all are delighted with the way he has been crossing every hurdle in his recovery.” - Source on Rishabh Pant
A source at the NCA close to the development said that he has been making a fine recovery. The source said: “Rishabh has been making a fine recovery. He has started to take on deliveries with speed excess to 140 kmph. We all are delighted with the way he has been crossing every hurdle in his recovery. He is keeping well. His next target will be to focus on larger and quicker body movements, which we aim to achieve in the next couple of months”. Pant last played for Team India during the Bangladesh series back in December 2022.
After that accident, the Board confirmed that Pant had cuts to his forehead, along with a torn ligament on his right knee. His right wrist, ankle and toe were injured also along with abrasion injuries on his back. After that, he missed several series for India along with major events like the IPL 2023, and the World Test Championship so far. As things stand, he is set to miss the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. But, fans will hope for a return for him as soon as possible as that will be a blessing for Rohit Sharma and his men.
