Team India managed to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth consecutive time. They won the series by a 2-1 margin. Ravichandran Ashwin came up with tremendous performances as he won the player of the series award. He picked up 25 wickets while scoring vital 86 runs for the team.

Fans were in an ecstatic mood after seeing such a form from the veteran spinner of the Men in Blue. However, fans have always drawn comparisons between him and the former off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh. Even, some fans have always claimed that the former spinner is jealous of him as Ashwin gets tailored-match pitches and picks so many wickets in a regular interval. Now, Ashwin came up with a video on his official YouTube channel where he came up with a huge statement.

“The main problem of our humanity is the ego.” - Ravichandran Ashwin

While speaking on his channel, Ravichandran Ashwin said that in India, some players think that they are the best. But suddenly some players will come to the next generation and can do better than the former. So, any person needs to accept that there will always be someone who can be better.

Ashwin said: “Even, in India, we have this hyping mentality and superstar culture. It is prevalent here in India. If someone achieves something, we keep them in superstar status. The main problem of our humanity is the ego. Many of them will learn to keep their ego aside. But, this superstar thing will bring back the ego. We keep thinking that we are the best. And then suddenly, someone from the next generation comes along and says, “Can you just wait for some time? Let me just show you how this is done.”

“So, one thing we need to understand and accept is that there will always be someone better than us. Only then we can adjust to today’s reality and lead a happy life. Only then we can stop using this statement “In those days when we played…As I said, the realization of someone better than us will always prevail should hit us,” Ravichandran Ashwin concluded. Listening to such a statement, fans guessed that the off-spinner has taken an indirect dig at Harbhajan Singh.
