On 27 June 2023, the full schedule of the upcoming ODI World Cup got announced as the tournament is all set to happen from 5 October to 19 November in India. All the matches will be played across 10 different venues. So, all eyes will be on Team India as they will look to win their first major trophy since 2013, the first time with the help of the home conditions.
In 2011, India won the ODI World Cup in India. So, fans will hope to see them do the same this time around. But, before the mega event, the Men in Blue will look to be fully prepared to face all the other teams. In July, they are travelling to West Indies to play a three-match ODI series. Then, the Asia Cup is all set to take place from 31 August to 17 September.
In the last three-match ODI series in India, Australia defeated them 2-1
After that, Rohit Sharma and his men are going to play 3 ODIs against Australia in India in September just before the World Cup. India are currently the third-ranked team in the 50-over format while the Aussies are the number one-ranked team. So, that series can be a great preparation for both teams before the mega event. India last won the ODI World Cup in India while the Aussies won it last in 2015.
Recently, before the IPL 2023, both these teams locked horns in India for a three-match ODI series. But, the five-time world champion prevailed as the winner as they won the series 2-1. Notable, Rohit Sharma and his men will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia only on 8 October in Chennai. After that, on 15 October, they will play against their arch-rivals Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, India will travel the most during the mega event as nine of 10 stadiums will host their matches. Only the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad failed to get any of India’s matches.
