‘It’s disgusting Raina to say like that’- fans lash out at Suresh Raina over his controversial statement on Virat Kohli

Suresh Raina recently stated that Rajasthan winning the title is more important than Buttler breaking Virat Kohli's record of 973 runs.

The 15th edition of the Indian T20 League is currently underway and Jos Buttler has looked in sensational form. Playing for Rajasthan, Buttler has been wreaking havoc this season with the bat.

In 10 matches, he has managed to score 588 runs at an average of 65.33. His strike rate of 150.77 suggests that he has been exhibiting a destructive brand of cricket. Besides, Buttler has hit three centuries this season and the fans are hoping that he will break Virat Kohli’s record of scoring the most runs in a single edition of the cash-rich league.

Currently, Virat Kohli holds the record as he scored 973 runs for Bangalore in the 2016 edition of the tournament. Given the kind of form Buttler he is, there could be a chance that the English cricketer might break that record.

Meanwhile, during an IPL match, while Jatin Supru and Suresh Raina were commentating, a fan poll question came up, where the fans were asked if Buttler could break Virat Kohli’s record of 973 runs in a single season. 54 percent of the fans said yet, while 46 percent didn’t think so. To that, Jatin Sapru also asked Suresh Raina his answer on that.

Suresh Raina, in reply, stated that it isn’t important whether Buttler would break Virat’s record or not. What’s more important is that Rajasthan win the title.

Following his statement, a lot of Virat Kohli fans were left unimpressed as they felt that Raina took a dig at Virat Kohli. Despite scoring 973 runs in 2016 edition, Bangalore didn’t win the tournament that year. Thus, Raina’s statement didn’t sit down well with Kohli fans.

“Virat's 973 record single handedly took RCB in 2016 final but worst bowling couldn't make it to trophy, while Dhoni & Rohit won Trophies because of best team, they never single handedly took their teams in to final but his blind fans questioned ICC's Cricketer of Decade.” Another users wrote.

However, some of them also realized that Raina’s remark was taken out of context and was quick to support him in the comment section.

“People getting triggered for this, but Raina is right! even we don't want individual runs more than the trophy. Kohli fans please don’t get triggered it wasn't a dig at him. Chill” a user replied.

“Whatever he said is not even wrong. Jyada runs se jyada yeh matter karte hai ki un runs ka jeet mein kitna yogdan hai”, another user wrote on Twitter.
