It seems that the heat of the India-Pakistan clash is not over even after the two days of the match. Many former cricketers and experts are coming up with their opinions on the last-over drama during the super-12 match of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 between India and Pakistan. Many of the Pakistani cricketers and fans are not happy with the decision of the umpire when he declared a no-ball that Kohli smashed to a six.
Recently, former Pakistan skipper and veteran all-rounder Shahid Afridi has joined this list of former Pakistani players to come up with a disagreement on the umpire’s decision on that no-ball call. Afridi feels that the particular no-ball should’ve been referred to the TV umpire.
Who could have been a better judge than the third umpire - Shahid Afridi
"Jab se ye third umpire aya hai... Bohut sare run outs hai jaha pe on-field umpire bas signal kar dete hai third umpire k liye. Wo ek crucial situation tha, waha pe agar third umpire ko refer kar dete toh wo aapko bata dete but aapne fauran kar di no-ball ka ishara. Itni koi eagle eyes nahi hai aapki, third umpire ko refer kar sakte the. (There are many instances in the past when the umpires immediately signal for the third umpire for run-out appeals. That was a crucial stage of the match, it should have been referred to the third umpire, who could have been a better judge. You don't have eagle eyes that you made a decision so quickly)," said Afridi to Samaa TV.
Although, Afridi is not the first former Pakistani cricketer who is unhappy with the decision of umpire Marais Erasmus. Earlier, former legendary pacers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis have also expressed their disagreement on the same. Later, the list also included the former Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal.
Talking about the next assignments for both the teams in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022, India will take on the Netherlands on Thursday SCG in Sydney while the men in green will lock horns with Zimbabwe in Perth, Pakistan will also play their match on Thursday, 27th of October.
