The 2023 ODI World Cup is going to take place in India. England will look to defend the title this time around while the Men in Blue will look to win the title after 2011. However, recent reports have come out that the World Cup is going to kick off on 5 October. According to the reports of EspenCricinfo, the final will take place in Ahmedabad on 19 November.

Reports also suggested that different venues have been selected for the tournament. Those are Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Indore, and Rajkot. Another report suggested that the Indian Cricket Board are going to pay a whopping amount of 963Cr tax for the event.

Listening to that amount, fans went crazy and shared their views on the social media platform. However, reports also suggested that the visas for the Pakistani players will be cleared by the Indian government for the event. Meanwhile, India were the first nation that won the World Cup in 2011 as a host nation. After that, all host nations won the World Cup so far in the last two editions. So, fans will hope for another brilliant performance from the Men in Blue again in this upcoming edition under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.

Speaking about the preparation, the head coach, Rahul Dravid opened up ahead of the third ODI against Australia in Chennai on 22 March 2023. “We have got a lot more clarity at the end of these nine games irrespective of what happens tomorrow. We need to keep building on that clarity. For us, it is now the different playing XI combinations and just ensuring that we play different combinations at times just to ensure that we are able to do that in the World Cup and we are not surprised by anything. We have almost sort of narrowed it down to 17-18 players,” Dravid said.
