Speaking of the match, RCB batted first and scored 181 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. Then, in reply, Salt and Warner came out to open. Both of them gave a blistering start to the team. In the sixth over of their innings, Siraj came to ball and Salt hit him for two consecutive sixes and a four. After getting hammed by the DC batter, Siraj seemed to lose his cool and was seen getting involved in a heated exchange. Both Warner and Faf du Plessis also intervened to separate them. Meanwhile, Siraj had a disappointing outing as he conceded 28 runs in two overs without any wickets.

After winning the Player of the Match award, Salt said: "We spoke about being positive and taking them on. We saw how good they were in Bangalore when they had their tails up. Something that's a real strength of mine is that if I really get going I don't take my foot off the pedal too often. We knew the wicket is a little slow and low and we knew that realistically we would slow down in the middle. I thought it was par. I thought we would have to bat really well to get there but the boys came out swinging and we got it done. He came in and hit the second ball for six or something like that and put the bowlers on the back foot."
