On 29 May 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the final of the recently concluded IPL against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad. However, GT’s Sai Sudharsan had a good game as he scored 96 runs off 47 balls. But, his effort went in vain as GT failed to defend 171 runs in 15 overs.
But, now in a chat with CNN-News 18 recently, Sai shared his interaction with CSK skipper, MS Dhoni after the qualifier one in Chennai. CSK defeated GT in that game and qualified for the final. Sai said that MS Dhoni is the most humble person he has met so far. The GT batter also praised Dhoni for his tactical brilliance.
“He was very humble and he gave everybody a lot of time” - Sai Sudharsan on MS Dhoni
He said: "I got an opportunity to speak to him for 10-15 minutes after Qualifier 1. I think we spoke a lot about cricket, and knowing more of yourself, and I think it is very useful and I will take it going forward definitely. Dhoni is the most humble person I have met because he gives time to everyone."
“On the day I spoke to him, there were a lot of people talking to him before. He was very humble and he gave everybody a lot of time and that is one thing I admire about him. The way he reads the game, I would also like to learn a lot from him and if given an opportunity, I would like to speak to him in the future," Sai Sudharsan concluded.
Sai Sudharsan scored 362 runs in eight matches, at an average of 51.71 and a strike rate of 141.41. In a chat with ESPNcricinfo, he revealed: "I still get goosebumps when I think about the reception from the dugout. The amount of confidence or the amount of support from my team-mates or support staff... Obviously me, Vijay anna (brother)... Sai Ki (Sai Kishore) are very close and share everything together. Obviously, I didn't score a hundred, but I felt a sense of satisfaction when I walked back to the dugout."
