Pakistan and New Zealand locked horns in the all-important first semi-final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson won the toss and asked his batters to take the charge first. Batting first, Kane Williamson’s men managed to post a total of 152 runs for the loss of four wickets.
While chasing the target, the men in green comfortably crossed the line in 19.1 overs to win the match by a margin of seven wickets to seal being the first finalists of the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup.
The subcontinental (Indo-Pak) fans are also overjoyed following this result of the first semi-final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Speaking of the match, Skipper Kane Williamson and all-rounder Daryl Mitchell played the crucial knocks of 46 and 53 runs respectively. Williamson took 42 balls in his 46-run knock with a four and a six to his name. Whereas Mitchell played his half-century knocking off 35 balls with three boundaries and a six to his willow. Ace speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi scalped two wickets whereas all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz also claimed a wicket for their team.
While chasing the target, the star opening pair of Pakistan, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan that was looking out of their touch in the entire tournament made a stunning comeback for their team in the must-win and all-important semi-final clash of the tournament. The famous opening duo stitched a brilliant century-partnership of 105 runs for the first wicket before the skipper Babar fell prey to senior Kiwi pacer Trent Boult with the individual score of 53 runs off 42 balls with seven boundaries to his name.
Eventually, Pakistan won the match by seven wickets with Shan Masood's shot and became the first team to enter the final of the eighth edition of the tournament. Mohammad Rizwan was adjudged player of the match for his brilliant match-defining knock of 57 runs off 43 balls with five boundaries.
