All eyes were on Hardik Pandya and his men on 13 August when they took on West Indies in the fifth and final match of the five-match T20I series in Lauderhill. After losing the first two matches, they managed two back-to-back wins and hence, fans were hoping for them to bag the series also with another win.

But, the Windies managed to perform exceptionally as they won the game by eight wickets and thus, bagged the series 3-2. They chased down the 166-run target in just 18 overs. Notably, it was the first time Pandya lost a T20I series as the skipper of the Men in Blue. But, after the loss, he came up with an absurd statement in defence of his team and that did not go well with the fans as fans slammed him brutally on social media.

“All these games are the games where we have to learn.” - Hardik Pandya

During the post-match presentation, Pandya claimed that sometimes, losing is good for any team as it helps to learn much more. He said: “It's a long way. We have the ODI WC coming up. And sometimes losing is good. You get to learn a lot. And special mention for all the boys. They showed great character. Winning and losing is a part of the process and we are going to make sure we learn from that.”

The star Team India all-rounder also shared his views on captaining a young side. “They've got heart. That is something that's very important in international cricket. Every youngster coming through has belief. That's something I see very often now. Kudos to them, they came out and took responsibility. I can't be happier as a captain." he further added.

Pandya also defended his decision to bat first after winning the toss and said: “I believe that as a group we have to challenge ourselves. All these games are the games where we have to learn. We have spoken as a group that whenever we can take the hard way we will. In hindsight, one series here or there doesn't matter but the commitment to the goal is important.”
