Day four of the ongoing first Ashes Test got underway as England came into bat with 28 runs on the board for two wickets. That was the overnight score for them with a lead of 35 runs. But, an image went viral where Pakistan pacer, Shaheen Shah Afridi was seen attending the match from the stands.

Seeing that fans went crazy and shared their views on social media. Afridi is currently in England, busy playing for Nottinghamshire in the ongoing T20 Blast. However, Afridi made a return to Pakistan’s Test team set up in the recently announced squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. 

“I dearly missed Test cricket and it was tough for me to be away from this format.” - Shaheen Afridi

Regarding that, Shaheen said: “I am very excited to be returning to the Pakistan Test side after a year. I dearly missed Test cricket and it was tough for me to be away from this format. After missing our entire home season because of the injury I suffered in Sri Lanka, I am eager to make an impactful comeback in the same country and complete a century of wickets in Test cricket. I want to thank my fans who have provided me support in tough times and I am ready for the challenges ahead.” After a long gap of 11 months, Afridi is all set to make a comeback in the longest format of the game.

His last Test match was on 16 July 2022 against Pakistan at Galle. Speaking of the ongoing Ashes Test, England finished session one of day four with 155 runs for five wickets. Thus, the home side now have a lead of 162 runs. Joe Root got out after scoring 46 runs off 55 balls while Ollie Pope scored 14 runs off 16 balls. Then, Harry Brook got out after scoring 46 runs off 52 balls. Pat Cummins took one wicket while Nathan Lyon grabbed two wickets in the session.
