On 5 February 2023, a PSL exhibition game took place between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi. The match took place in Quetta at Musa Chowk. However, Pakistan are already in the headlines in the last few days regarding their stance on hosting the Asia Cup 2023. But, after the meeting on 4 February, reports have come out that the Asia Cup might get shited to the UAE from Pakistan.

However, some Pakistan media reports also suggested that the Men in Green are planning not to visit India for the 50-over World Cup if the Asia Cup gets shifted. However, it was a huge occasion for all Pakistan fans as all the big-name players of the country were part of both squads for the exhibition match.

But, the match has been restarted after a brief halt due to a bomb blast in Quetta at Musa Chowk. However, reports came out that crowd mismanagement at the Bugti Stadium was the reason for the sudden stoppage of the exhibition match. According to Dawn.com, a blast happened in Quetta near Police Line, around 4km away from the Stadium. Despite high-alerted security at the stadium, it was a very unfortunate incident. Reports also suggested that five individuals got injured and were transported to the Civil Hospital in Quetta by Edhi employee Zeeshan Ahmed.

Meanwhile, some reporters also claimed that it is completely false that the bomb blast is the main reason behind the stoppage of the game. He claimed that mismanagement of the crowds and some protests outside of the stadium were the main reasons. Speaking of the match, Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first. Umar Akmal was in Sarfaraz Ahmed’s team while Shahid Afridi was in Babar’s team. While batting first, Quetta Gladiators hit 184 runs as Iftikhar Ahmed scored 94* runs off 50 balls. In reply, Peshawar Zalmi managed a great start to the chase as they scored 109 runs for one wicket after the first 10 overs.
