Now reports have come in that he could open the batting for Australia come World Cup 2023. Marsh made a cracking 92 off 49 balls with thirteen fours and two sixes in the first T20I. In the second game, he smashed a stroke-filled 79 off 39 balls with eight fours and six sixes. It was a great series for the Australian all-rounder who has been in the form of his life in recent times.

Australia beat India 2-1 in an ODI series on Indian soil recently

In the three-match ODI series against India which the Kangaroos won 2-1 which happened just before the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), Marsh was in impeccable form yet again as he butchered the Indian bowlers at will. In a career which has had a lot of stops and starts due to injuries, the all-rounder will be wanting to make the most of his blooming phase and do well for the national side.

Australia do have David Warner and Travis Head as bonafide openers. But the Australians will want to see if Marsh could be accommodated at the top of the order. With the kind of batting lineup the Kangaroos have, they will fancy themselves doing well in Indian conditions. The Australian players have experience playing in India over bilateral tours and the  IPL.

The Australians and South Africans will continue the tour as the two sides will go up against each other in three ODIs. These ODIs will provide the perfect opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their combinations and iron out their flaws ahead of the 2023 World Cup. In ODIs Marsh had scored 2008 runs in 72 games at an average of 34.62. He has also picked up 54 wickets in the 50-over format.
