Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan was the nucleus of controversy among the Indo-Pak community on the social media platform, Twitter. It all happened following the “Neighbours lack grace” remarks from the 38-year-old former Indian veteran following the men in green’s win against New Zealand in the first semi-final played at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

Just a day after Pathan, the Indian team locked horns with England in the second semi-final of the tournament where the latter thrashed Rohit Sharma’s men by a margin of 10 wickets. Subsequently, this defeat of the Indian team gave a chance for Pakistan fans to hit back at Irfan Pathan and they took no time in teaching grace and some lessons to the 20-20 World Cup 2007 winner all-rounder. Even the former legendary Pak pacer Shoaib Akhtar also had some virtual interaction on Twitter with Irfan Pathan.

But now, as Babar Azam’s men fell short of the title after a loss against England in the final of the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup, it came as an opportunity for Baroda-born former Indian cricketer to re-ignite the ‘Grace controversy’ with his latest tweet on his official Twitter handle.

“This has been a graceful World Cup victory for team England. Well played 👏,” reads Pathan’s tweet in the aftermath of England’s win in the final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 against Pakistan.

Here's what Pathan tweeted after Pakistan's loss against England in the final:

Speaking of Pakistan’s journey in the just concluded 20-20 World Cup 2022, it’s been completely a roller coaster. Babar Azam-led squad was on the brink of an early exit after two consecutive losses against India and a lower-ranked team like Zimbabwe. But in a surprising turnaround of events, the Netherlands beat South Africa in their last super-12 match and made an easy way for Pakistan to the semi-finals.

Pakistan played against Kane Williamson’s New Zealand and won the match by seven wickets to make it to the finals of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 for the third time in the history of the tournament.
