The IPL 2023 match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took place Wednesday night at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After scoring his 49th career fifty in the IPL, Kohli needed a particular effort on the pitch from KKR all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer to be sent back to the pavilion.
Despite losing Mahipal Lomlor for 34 (18 balls) and needing 201 runs to win at home, RCB captain Virat Kohli was cruising along at 54 with six boundaries and 12 runs off Varun Chakravarthy's over. KKR captain Nitish Rana sent in Andre Russell to bowl the 13th over of the innings. Kohli pushed Russell towards deep midwicket, where Venkatesh Iyer made an incredible diving catch.
Anushka Sharma, a Bollywood actress and Virat Kohli's wife, in the Chinnaswamy Stadium, stood to watch the game and was equally astounded by Iyer's outstanding diving performance as the rest of the Bengaluru audience. Anushka Sharma's reaction was captured on camera and quickly went viral online.

KKR won the game by 21 runs against RCB in IPL 2023
With his removal, Kohli had to make the long trip back to the pavilion after scoring 54 off of 37 balls, ending all of RCB's aspirations of challenging KKR. After 20 overs, RCB reached 179 for 8, falling 21 runs short of the mark.
Russell, who removed Kohli, finished with statistics of 2/29, and Chakravarthy, who claimed 3/27 with the ball, was named "Player of the Match." "We really needed that victory. We have been under the pump. We know once we get a good total - and anything above 200 was a good total - we can impart pressure. Once I get the ball, I try to do my best. I try to contribute in whatever way," Russell said at the post-match presentation.
This year, the West Indies all-rounder has had trouble scoring runs with the bat, averaging just under 18 in the IPL 2023. Russell wasn't really concerned about that, though. "I am still confident with the bat. Got a very good yorker tonight from Siraj. Part of the game. We just got to take it day by day. Recovery is very important for me. The older I get, the smarter I get with my body," he added.
