The stage is getting ready at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk for the qualifier one of the ongoing IPL. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) on 23 May 2023. In the group stage, GT finished at the top spot with 20 points in 14 games, While CSK finished in second place with 17 points in 14 games.
In the first of this year’s IPL in Ahmedabad, GT defeated CSK. Even, in all three meetings so far, GT have won every time. So, GT will look to continue their dominance over CSK while MS Dhoni and his men will look to pen their account. But, they will face each other for the first time at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk.

This GT opener has been enjoying a great season so far with the bat. In 14 games, Gill has scored 680 runs, at an average of 56.66 and a strike rate of 152.46. He has notched up four cities and two centuries also. However, both these centuries came in the last two games against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) respectively.
Currently, he is in the second spot in the race for the Orange Cap this season. Against SRH, Gill scored 101 runs off 58 balls while against RCB, he scored 104* runs off 52 balls. So, with such a blistering form on his back, GT fans will hope for another top knock from him at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk.
2. Devon Conway
This CSK opener has been very consistent so far in IPL 2023. In 14 matches, Devon Conway has scored 585 runs, at an average of 53.18 and a strike rate of 138.62. He has notched up six cities also. In the race for the Orange Cap this year, Conway is in the fifth spot. However, he is coming off after a good knock against Delhi Capitals (DC).
Conway smashed 87 runs off 52 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes. He and Ruturaj Gaikwad put up a partnership of 141 runs for the first wicket in 14.3 overs. Even, at Chepauk, in the last five innings, this Kiwi batter smashed two fifties. So, the home crowd will hope for another big knock from Devon Conway.
3. Vijay Shankar
This star all-rounder has enjoyed a great season so far with some crucial knocks for his team in crunch situations. In 11 matches, Vijay Shankar has scored 287 runs, at an average of 41 and a strike rate of 161.23. He has notched up three fifties also. His last fifty came in the last game against RCB.
Shankar smashed 53 runs off 35 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. He also put up a solid partnership of 123 runs for the second wicket with Shubman Gill while chasing 198 runs. So, he is expected to score big again against MS Dhoni and his men in a big game like the qualifier one.
