After losing two consecutive games, Rajasthan returned to winnings ways with a 6-wicket win over Punjab at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.

Chasing a 189-run total, Rajasthan made a pretty good start, thanks to a 46-run opening partnership between Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Buttler, once again, was looking solid with the bat. He was hitting the balls all around the park before Kagiso Rabada had him caught at short third man. Buttler got out after scoring 30 runs in 16 balls.

Sanju Samson, once again, looked good in the middle but was caught in the 9th over after getting a good start with the bat. He made 23 runs in 12 balls, including 4 fours. Punjab picked those two crucial wickets but Yashasvi Jaiswal held firm at one end.

Making his return into the playing XI, the Indian young batter played an outstanding knock of 68 runs in 41 balls, a knock which was studded with 9 fours and 2 sixes. Rajasthan was cruising in the chase till he was at the crease but Arshdeep Singh had him caught at long-on in the 15th over to help the team get back into the game.

However, Shimron Hetmyer and Devdutt Padikkal put on a 41-run partnership to take the game away from the opposition. The latter got out in the 19th over but Hetmyer took the team home with 2 balls remaining in the end. He played an unbeaten knock of 31 runs in 16 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes.

Punjab, once again, exhibited a below-par performance with the ball. Arshdeep Singh returned with figures of 2 for 29 but the other bowlers failed to deliver.

Earlier, Punjab notched a formidable score of 189 runs in the first innings. Jonny Bairstow, who was enduring a lean run with the bat, scored his first half-century of this season. While Shikhar Dhawan (12 off 16) had a poor outing with the ball, Jonny Bairstow, on the other hand, ensured he gives the team a solid start with the bat.

Bairstow played a valuable knock of 56 runs in 40 balls, a knock which was laced with 8 fours and 1 six. B Rakapaksa valuable cameo of 27 runs in 18 balls but failed to convert the start into a big score. Mayank Agarwal (15 off 13) struggled to hit the straps but Jitesh Sharma played an unbeaten knock of 38 runs in just 18 balls to help the team reach a competitive score on the board. As for Rajasthan, it was Yuzvendra Chahal, who starred with the ball. Every time a partnership was developing, Yuzvendra Chahal ensured he breaks that.

He completed his bowling spell with bowling figures of 3 for 28 runs in 4 overs. The fast bowlers, however, had forgetting outings in the match. Meanwhile, fans took the game as an opportunity to take a dig at underwhelming performances of Devdutt Padikkal and Rahul Chahar.
