Chennai haven't really had a great start to their Indian T20 league 2022 campaign. They lost their opening game against Kolkata and looked helpless, to say the least. The defending champions need to buckle up if they are to do good in this edition.
Chennai needs to rectify their flaws to ensure that they get back into the groove. So what are the changes they need to make in order to start winning games? Today, we shall be taking a look at three changes Chennai should make to get back to winning ways.
1) Moeen Ali for Mitchell Santner:
While Mitchell Santner is a quality T20 cricketer, Chennai currently needs a batting all-rounder and not a bowling all-rounder. It was their batting that looked vulnerable. Besides, Moeen Ali is one of the most impactful T20 all-rounders going around.
Moreover, he played an integral role in Chennai's title-winning campaign in 2021. His ability to hit the spinners in the middle overs is something that the yellow army currently needs. Thus, Ali solves a lot of Chennai's issues.
2) Dwaine Pretorius for Adam Milne:
Adam Milne wasn't at his best during Chennai's game against Kolkata. Neither did he pick any wickets, nor did he control the flow of runs. He went for 19 runs in 2.3 overs.
On the other hand, Dwaine Pretorius can bowl in the powerplay, as well as the death overs. He has impressed a lot of people with his recent performances for South Africa in the recent past. Moreover, he gives the extra batting option as well.
3) Rajvardhan Hangargekar for Tushar Deshpande:
Hangargekar is a special talent, who has the ability to generate the extra pace. His height and physique act as a catalyst to bowl the quicker deliveries. The youngster would be rearing to get on the field and showcase his abilities in the Indian T20 league.
He already showed how good he is during the U19 World Cup 2022. The fans have been waiting to see him make his debut for Chennai as well. He could very well go on to be their "X factor".
