Gujarat franchise surprised everyone in their inaugural season as they lifted the prestigious trophy by defeating the Rajasthan franchise by 7 wickets. Gujarat’s captain Hardik Pandya was adjusted to the player of the match for his all-round contribution in the final.
After the mega auction earlier this year, no one was considering their team for this year’s triumph. Defeating all the odds, several players like Hardik Pandya, and David Miller stood up on different occasions for the team as Gujarat managed to win the Indian T20 League at their first attempt.
Here are the best performers of Gujarat:
Hardik Pandya
All eyes were on Hardik Pandya when he was declared the captain for the newly introduced Gujarat franchise. He was coming off an injury setback and he did not even play any competitive cricket for a long period.
Hardik managed to score 487 runs in 15 innings at an average of 44.27. Batting at no.4, he brought stability into the playing XI. He also bagged eight wickets in 10 innings.

David Miller
David Miller regenerated his career once again in this year’s tournament as he played the finisher role with full authority for this new franchise. Despite being unsold in starting rounds, Gujarat Team Management put faith in him and made him an integral part.
In 16 matches, he scored 481 runs at an average of 68.71. He played some vital knocks down the batting order to finish some games for the team.
Even, in the final, he played an unbeaten knock of 32 runs off 19 balls at a strike rate of 168.42. His innings included three fours and one six.
Rashid Khan
This year Gujarat franchise roped in Rashid Khan when he was released by his former franchise, Hyderabad. Apart from his bowling abilities, Gujarat utilised his batting abilities to finish some matches down the order.
Once again, Rashid was the highest wicket-taker for his time with 19 wickets in 16 matches at an economy of 6.59. He even contributed with some crucial cameos with the bat. In a league match against the Hyderabad franchise, he put up a match-winning partnership of unbeaten 59 runs with Rajul Tewatia to win at the final stages.
Rashid was instrumental in the final by conceding only 18 runs in four overs with one wicket. His economic spell helped Gujarat to restrict Rajasthan to a below-par score.
