The Qualifier 2 match of the Indian T20 League 2022 is slated to be played between Bangalore and Rajasthan on Friday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Bangalore would be riding high on confidence after knocking Lucknow out in the Eliminator clash.
They would be keen to book a place in the final. On the other hand, Rajasthan are coming off a 7-wicket defeat over Gujarat in the Qualifier 1 match. However, all is not lost yet. They can still reach the summit clash if they manage to beat Bangalore on Friday.
It will be interesting to see who wins the highly anticipates clash.
Team News:
Bangalore:
In a do-or-die game, Bangalore needed the likes of Faf du Plessis, Kohli and Maxwell to step up on Wednesday. Instead, Rajat Patidar stepped up with a match-winning century. He will be one of the players to watch out for on Friday.
Faf du Plessis and Co. would also be proud of the way they bowled in the last game. Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel, in particular, were outstanding and, thus, you don’t expect the franchise to make any chances in the qualifier 2 match.
Players to watch out for:
- Faf du Plessis
The skipper got out on the very first ball in the last game but he is the man in form. A big match-player, Faf du Plessis is expected to come good on Friday. He is the highest run-getter for the team, scoring 443 runs in 15 matches at an average of 31.64.
- Rajat Patidar
There is no denying that Rajat Patidar was one of the biggest reasons behind Bangalore’s win in the last game. His unbeaten century helped the team reach a total beyond 200. Patidar played some attractive shot during his innings and he is certainly the player to watch out for.
- Wanindu Hasaranga
The Sri Lankan spinner has been in outstanding form with the ball. He bowled game-changing overs in the last game. Hasaranga didn’t allow the Lucknow batters to take him on easily and also picked the wicket of Deepak Hooda. He is currently the second-highest wicket-taker with 25 wickets in 15 matches.
Probable Playing XI:
Faf du Plessis (c), Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Karthik (wk), Shahbaz Ahmed, Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood, Mohammed Siraj
Rajasthan:
The first thing Rajasthan would want from Sanju Samson is to win the toss. However, that is also something that is not in their hands. They would be looking to forget the last game but should take positives from that.
The likes of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson and Devdutt Padikkal are all in top-notch form and this should give them a lot of confidence. The Bowling unit didn’t perform to their ability and they could drop Obed McCoy on Friday.
Players to watch out for:
- Jos Buttler
Jos Buttler has 718 runs to his name in ongoing edition of the Indian T20 League 2022. He has an average and a strike rate of 51 and 148 respectively. Without a doubt, he will be the most important batter in the team.
- Sanju Samson
Coming in at number three, Samson played a valuable knock of 47 runs in 26 balls in the last game against Gujarat. It changed the momentum of the innings and Rajasthan would want him to replicate a similar knock on Friday.
- Yuzvendra Chahal
The Rajasthan wrist spinner was guilty of bowling a lot of bad balls in the last match but he has been in outstanding form, throughout the season. Chahal has the most number of wickets this season and would look to add a few more to his tally on Friday.
Probable Playing XI:
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Devdutt Padikkal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal, Obed McCoy
