Indian T20 League is like a festival for ardent cricket lovers across the country. They witness a lot of entertainment from the game of cricket with every season of the tournament. Now, the fans are eagerly waiting for the 16th edition of the tournament which is scheduled to be played next year in 2023.
In a major piece of news, a reliable source has confirmed to the media the dates of the auction for the 2023 edition of the Indian T20 League. The tournament will be played once again in the home and away format after a gap of three years.
The purse for the 2023 mini-auction will be bigger than that of the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League
Talking about the salary purse, it was INR 90 crore for the mega auction of the Indian T20 League but for the next season, it might touch the amount of INR 95 crore, 5 crores more than the previous amount. Surprisingly, the 2022 edition had a mega auction whereas it will be a mini-auction for the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League.
“The next season of men’s Indian T20 League will also go back to the home-and-away format with all the 10 teams playing their home matches at their designated venues,” said the outgoing president of the Indian cricket Board, Sourav Ganguly.
Looking back at the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League, it witnessed a lot of changes as two new entrants Lucknow and Gujarat were also a part of the roster of the tournament. Gujarat happened to shock everyone and won their debut season in the Indian T20 League. Star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya was the captain of the team.
Currently, all the renowned faces of the Indian T20 League are in action with the Indian team during the 20-20 World Cup 2022 where India will lock horns with the arch-rivals Pakistan on the 23rd of October at MCG in Melbourne.
