Team India is scheduled to play a five-match T20I home series against South Africa starting on 9 June 2022. Team India is on the verge of making history for winning 13 T20I series on a trot. On the other hand, Proteas will be in action for the first time in International T20s after their outing in the last year’s T20 World Cup.
Some Indian players like KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya are coming off a very good Indian T20 League and they will hope to continue their form in the series also. Meanwhile, South African players like Quinton de Kock performed brilliantly in that tournament also.
Here is the prediction of the top three run-scores of the series
KL Rahul (India)
In the absence of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul is going to lead the team in this series. It will be another tough test for him as he did not have a great start to his International captaincy for whatever opportunities he had got so far.
In the recently concluded Indian T20 Leauge, KL Rahul led his Lucknow franchise to the Eliminator before getting defeated by Bangalore. As a batter, he scored 616 runs in 15 matches at an average of 51.33 with a strike rate of 135.38.
He was at the second position for the race of highest run scorer this year, just behind Rajasthan's Jos Buttler (863 runs in 17 matches). All eyes will be on KL Rahul once again both as the batter and leader when he will step out against the Proteas.
Quinton de Kock (South Africa)
Quinton de Kock had another great Indian T20 season with his new franchise, Lucknow. He smashed 508 runs in 15 innings at an average of 36.28 with a strike rate of 148.97.
Despite having a bad start to this year’s tournament, he managed to get back in form at the business end of the tournament. His best knock of unbeaten 140 runs came against Kolkata in a must-win affair.
This South African wicket-keeper batter enjoys playing against India as he has bagged 137 runs in three T20I matches with an average of 68.50 at a strike rate of 147.31. South Africa will hope that he will continue his good form again in this series.
Hardik Pandya (India)
This Indian All-rounder earned a comeback call into the squad for this series after his dream run both as a player and leader for his new franchise, Gujarat. Pandya led them to win the prestigious trophy of Indian T20 League at their maiden appearance which took everyone by surprise.
In 15 innings, he managed to score 487 runs at an average of 44.27 with a strike rate over 130. Batting at no.4, he brought stability into the team and he also picked up eight crucial wickets in 10 innings at an economy of 7.27.
Even, in the final, he was adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-around abilities (three crucial wickets and 34* off 30 balls while chasing). If the Team India management uses him at the no.4 slot for this series, he could be the top scorer by the end of it.
