Team India is scheduled for the home T20I series against South Africa, starting on 9 June. While South Africa has announced a full-strength squad for the se as this series will be a great opportunity for some players ahead of the T20I World Cup later this year.
Team India is on the edge of creating a world record of winning 113 T20I series consecutively. On the other hand, it will be South Africa’s first T20I series after last year’s T20I World Cup in UAE. In India’s condition, several bowlers from both sides will look to produce some match-winning spells in this upcoming series.
Here are the three predicted players for being the leading wicket-taker:
Yuzvendra Chahal
This Indian leggie enjoyed another stellar Indian T20 Leauge season for his new franchise, Rajasthan. His form was instrumental to guide the franchise to the final of the season.
In 17 matches, he bagged 27 wickets at an economy of 7.75. It helped him to become the highest wicket-taker in the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League. He even bagged a hattrick and a five-wicket haul against the Kolkata franchise.
Team India will hope to use him as a wicket-taker in this series as well. However, he does not hold a great record against the Proteas as he picked up only one wicket in two T20Is. He even conceded runs at an economy of 12.87.
Tabraiz Shamsi
Tabraiz Shamsi can be a lethal option for South Africa as this Chinaman spinner is the no.1 rank bowler in T20Is. In Indian pitch conditions, his variations can ask some questions to the Indian batters throughout the series.
Still, now, he played 47 T20Is where he picked 57 wickets at an economy of 6.74. Even, against India, he has a decent record as he picked up four wickets in five matches at an economy of 7.88.
In four T20I matches in India, South Africa won three. Hence, Shamsi’s form can play a major role to continue such dominance.
Kagiso Rabada
All eyes will be on Kagiso Rabada once again as in the last few years, he became the main spearhead for the Protea’s bowling line-up. His death bowling skills will be crucial to managing some crunchy situations during the series.
He enjoyed a good Indian T20 Leauge season for Punjab with 23 wickets in 13 matches at an economy of 8.45. Against India, in four T20Is, he managed to pick up four wickets at an average of 28.25.
South Africa will hope that Rabada continues his good form with the ball by providing them with important wickets at crucial stages in the series.
