After a decade-long wait, India is set to host a women's test match in December 2023. The Indian Cricket Board has decided to host the one-off Test between India Women and Australia Women at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It's worth noting that during their all-format tour of India, the Australian women will play three ODIs, three T20Is, and one Test match.

The entire tour will commence across various venues in Mumbai itself. The three-match ODI series will take place at Wankhede Stadium, followed by a test match. Meanwhile, the three-match T20I series will take place at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. The Test match is likely to start a day after Christmas, while the T20I series will take place in January 2024.

It's worth noting that India last hosted a women's test match in November 2014 in Mysore. The match was played between India and South Africa. However, the Australian team last played a Test match in India around forty years ago. The match was played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium only. It will be a very important game for the Indian team, as the board is hoping to increase the number of matches in India.

In 2021, the Indian women's team made an all-format tour to Australia. The Women in Yellow emerged as winners with a margin of 11-5. However, riding on high confidence from a successful stint in the Asian Games, the Indian team will look to avenge the previous defeat. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian squad is currently enjoying holidays after returning from China.

Some of the players are set to participate in the Women's Big Bash League. The tournament will start on October 19 at the North Sydney Oval in Sydney. On the other hand, the Wankhede Stadium is currently hosting the ODI World Cup 2023. The iconic ground will also host the semifinal game on November 17.
