Rohit Sharma has decided to take a break from cricket action for a while after Team India's heartbreaking loss against Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final. The reigning all-format captain skipped the five-match T20I series against Australia and then the white-ball series against South Africa. He will next be seen on the field in the two-match Test series against South Africa starting on December 26.
While taking time to recover from the World Cup final defeat, the 36-year-old cricketer and his wife Ritika Sajdeh celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary on Wednesday. Rohit and Ritika got married in December 2015 and are living a wonderful life with their daughter Samaira. Notably, the cricketer's family recently went on a vacation to spend some quality time together ahead of the crucial red-ball series.
Meanwhile, Rohit shared some adorable pictures with Ritika on Instagram to celebrate their special day. He also added a sweet caption to it, revealing his 'best partner'. "Fingers crossed, best partnership for life."
The post quickly went viral on social media with many fans showering love on the Indian skipper and his wife in the comments section. Rohit's Mumbai Indians (MI) teammate and current World No. 1 T20 batter Suryakumar was one of those who came forward with a loving response. He reacted with a heart emoji.
Notably, Ritika had also shared some pictures with Rohit earlier in the day with a heartwarming caption. "To the boy who changed my life from the day he walked into it ?? Thank you for being my best friend, my comedian, my favourite human and my home. Life with you is nothing short of magical. Love you @rohitsharma45," she wrote.
It was not easy to digest: Rohit on World Cup final defeat
24 days after losing the 2023 World Cup final, the veteran opener, in a video message, revealed how his family and friends helped him recover from the painful day. However, he mentioned that it was tough and not so easy to get going.
"I had no idea how to come back from this. I had no clue what to do. My family and friends kept me going, and kept things pretty light around me, which was quite helpful. It was not easy to digest, but life moves on and you have to move on. Honestly, it was tough and it was not so easy to move on," Rohit had said in a video posted on Instagram.
