India and Bangladesh are facing off in the second Test that kicked off on December 14, Wednesday and Day 2 was dominated completely by the KL Rahul-led Indian team as they toyed with the Bangla Tigers batters post putting on 404 runs on the board at the end of the first innings, despite being restricted to 48/3 early in the innings.
Much to the delight of the Indian fans, the pacers were brimming with confidence and started picking up wickets in quick succession leaving no stone unturned to restrict the Bangla Tigers batters to not take the lead, although one could argue that the Indian team put on a massive lead on the board.
The Shakib Al Hasan-led team were restricted to 133/8 at stumps on Day 2, staring at a possible follow-on, given that they were still trailing by 271 runs. It was a tough day for the Bangla Tigers as they were unable to get going on Day 2, much to the stupefaction of the Bangladeshi fans.
Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav shine for India
As things stand, Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav shined for India on the day and it remained to be seen if they would carry on with the momentum on the next day as well. Yadav, the left-arm spinner, opened up on his spell post the conclusion of the match and hoped to carry on with the form on the next day as well.
“I was a bit nervous, I was very lucky to get the first wicket in the first over. Got the momentum back. After a couple of overs, I started feeling well, mixed my pace and variations, tried both the angles - over the wicket and round the wicket. I was getting proper turn, I was actually loving it,” Kuldeep was quoted as saying after play on Day 2.
“After I got injured, I started working on my rhythm, trying to be a bit quicker - that's helping me a lot. I am not compromising with the spin. When I was batting, I thought that there was not much in it for the spinners. I didn't face any discomfort while batting. I thought it'll be good for batting. When you're a wrist-spinner bowling with the Kookaburra ball, you'll definitely get turn and bounce on such wickets,” he added.
As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to Day 2 of the first Test:
