India came up with a thumping win in the first T20I against England getting back to winning ways after their heartbreaking loss in the fifth Test. The recent win was scripted on the back of an all-round performance from the team with both batters and bowlers coming up with a coherent execution.

Deepak Hooda is one such player among these whose stocks are on a rise in recent matches. Against Ireland, the right-hand batter came up with a score of 47* and a sensational 104. Against England, the 27-year-old also showed his rich vein of form and hit a quickfire 33 off of 17 with three boundaries and two massive sixes.

On the other spectrum, Virat Kohli continues to sink deeper under the pressure of his continued bad form. Against England, the once-best batter in the world could only manage 11 and 20 in two innings. The recent performances of these batters have enticed a set of fans to rally behind Hooda and ask for his berth in the team- in place of Virat Kohli!

While that may sound like blasphemy to older Kohli fans, times seem to have moved on. Even the ex- England player Graeme Swann raised concerns about Hooda’s exclusion from the second T20I onwards.

In his usual cheeky style, the commentator said, “I think it’s a great idea that you bring a load of players in. You got a winning team and completely change that in the 2nd game against England. I would like you to do that, India, please. Because this XI will beat England in 2 days’ time, even if you bring in world-class players like Bumrah, Kohli and Pant, it upsets the balance that has played so well.”

Let’s look at some of these tweets that are becoming increasingly common as Deepak Hooda continues to perform and Virat Kohli continues to fail.

India and England go head to head in the second T20I with Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja making a comeback in the team after their rest.
