Vikram Rathour has backed the younger batters to play well in the upcoming days. The Indian batting coach was in the press conference ahead of the 2nd Test. One of the questions asked to Rathour in the evening was about the form of younger batters like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shreyas Iyer, particularly in the longest format of the game.
Vikram was confident of the young batters to come good in Test cricket. He thought that the youngsters had not played much in the format. "There are young batters in our team who've not played much Test cricket," claimed Vikram. It is worth noting that all three of Gill,Β Shreyas Iyer, and Jaiswal debuted in or after 2020.
Vikram asked the fans and everyone else to be patient with the youngsters. He thought that the batters from India would start scoring runs soon. "We need to be a bit patient with them. Gill, Yashasvi and Iyer will eventually start getting big runs," added Vikram. Later on, there were questions asked about the coaching style of Rathour, as India is hoping to make a comeback in the series.
'Once you come to this level, I don't think you require too much coaching' - Vikram Rathour
The former Indian batter felt that at the highest level, there was not much need for coaching for the players. He felt that it was all about the application of the players as per the situations and playing conditions. "Once you come to this level, I don't think you require too much coaching. It's about reading the situations and making smarter decisions," added Vikram.
Rathour thought that players need to ask the right questions and get the right answers and not experience over-coaching. "As long as they are asking the right questions and receiving the right answers, there is no chance of over-coaching," added Vikram. India will be playing England in the 2nd Test of the series at Vizag. Many key players like Virat, Shami, Rahul, and Jadeja will not be taking part in the match.

Next-level defendingβ Gill has played in over 20+ games, but even with the Ahmedabad and Gabba tests, we haven't seen proper test innings. Will they stand by Sarfaraz if he faces a setback?
