'Ilaaj ki zarurat hai tumhe' - Fans, PAK cricketer lash out at Pakistani journalist for mocking Virat Kohli's credentials

Former Indian skipper and veteran batter Virat Kohli recently completed his 46th ODI century during the third and last of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. The 34-year-old smashed 166 runs off just 110 balls with 13 boundaries and eight sixes to his name. Notably, it was also the 21st century for Kohli on Indian soil with which he surpassed former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar of 20 centuries at the Indian soil.

Almost every individual in the cricketing fraternity lauded the modern-day batting great’s excellence.  Meanwhile, there was a Pakistan journalist who couldn’t digest Virat’s century easily and he took to Twitter and questioned his credibility of scoring runs under pressure.

“Virat Kohli is at his best when there's no pressure, the series is not on the line, and conditions are great for batting. There's no harm in gaining confidence and form in such matches, India needs him to perform well in Test cricket with Australia coming over too tho,” read the tweet posted by Pakistan-based journalist Farid Khan.

It seemed like Farid Khan forgot Kohli’s stats during the run-chase as the latter has an average of 65.31 during the run-chase. Apart from this, the 2011 World Cup winner batter has scored 26 of his 46 ODI centuries while batting in the second innings. 22 of his 26 run-chase centuries are the ones that ended up on a winning side for India in the match.

The tweet from the Pak journalist didn’t go down well with a section of Indian cricket fans and they lashed out at him immediately on the micro-blogging site Twitter. Other than the fans, Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Maqsood also looked unhappy with the journalist’s tweet and the former reminded him about the contributions of Virat Kohli in international cricket.
