Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. They looked to make a cautious start but Athapaththu, unfortunately, got run-out in the third over of the innings. It was followed with three wickets in three balls in the next over as Sri Lanka were left reeling at 10 for 4 in just 4 overs.

Renuka Singh then had her third wicket in the form of Kavisha Dilhari as Sri Lanka lost half of their side for just 16 runs on the board. The Island nation would have folded under a 50-run total but small cameos from Ranasinghe (13 off 20) and Ranaweera (18 off 22) helped the team reach 65 for 9 at the end of the first innings.

Renuka Singh, once again, led from the front as she picked three vital wickets of Madavi (1), Perera (0), and Dilhari (1), giving away just 5 runs in her quota of three overs. The likes of Gayakwad (2 for 16) and Sneh Rana (2 for 13) also returned with impressive figures. In reply, Indian women’s team chased down the score in 8.3 overs.
