Jasprit Bumrah’s back injury has come up with a big conundrum to deal with the Indian national team and management. Not only the team, but it has now turned into a major concern for the ardent cricket fans across the world who are willing to watch him in action during the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
Just a few days back, some of the media reports learned that the senior Indian pacer is ruled out of the marquee tournament. Whereas, on the other hand, head coach Rahul Dravid has come up with something different to tell that the 28-year-old is under the scanner and he is still not ruled out of the tournament.
In a series of setbacks for the Indian team, senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has already been ruled out of the major international tournament. He sustained an injury in his knee during the Asia Cup 2022.
In a recent piece of update, few reports understand that Bumrah has not a ‘stress fracture’ but a ‘stress reaction’ instead. It transliterates into the fact that the harm is not that much severe as it could be due to a stress fracture. An athlete can recover from stress reaction within a time period of few weeks only.
A senior representative of the Indian cricket Board has recently informed The Times of India about the further progress in the case. The statement from the official comes up with the fact that Bumrah can recover from this injury within a period of the next 4-6 weeks.
It is one step less than a stress fracture - Indian cricket Board's source on Jasprit Bumrah
“Scans by the BCCI medical team at the National Cricket Academy (in Bangalore) have revealed that it's not a stress fracture, but 'stress reaction', which is one step less than a stress fracture. It takes 4-6 months to recover from a stress fracture, but normally only about 4-6 weeks to recover from a stress reaction,” said the Indian cricket Board official to the Times of India.
“If a squad member is injured between 16th September (initial submissions) and start of the support period (October 15), they can be replaced without going through the Event Technical Committee," he revealed later.
