After announcing their T20I and ODI teams of 2021, the International Cricket Council (ICC) have finally announced their Test team of 2021. Contrary to the other two XI's, this side features several Indian players in it. Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin have been selected in the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year for 2021.
Cricket's governing body announced this side on Thursday. Kane Williamson has been named the captain of this XI. It is to be noted that the Kiwi skipper won the inaugural World Test Championship last year in June. Besides, he scored 395 runs in four matches at an average of 65.83 with one century in 2021.

Dimuth Karunaratne and Rohit Sharma are the openers of this side, followed by Marnus Labuschagne and Joe Root. While Australia's number three batter scored 526 runs at an average of 65.75, the English Test captain was in the form of his life as he scored the most number of Test runs in 2021. Despite being 36, Pakistan's Fawad Alam, who scored three centuries last year, finds himself a place in the XI as well.
Following him are two Indian players, i.e. Rishabh Pant and Ravichandran Ashwin. The 24-year-old is also named the gloveman of this XI. It is to be noted that the Indian offie is the only spinner in the side.
The three pacers included by ICC in their Men's Test Team of the Year 2021 are Kyle Jamieson, Hasan Ali and Shaheen Afridi. The Kiwi pacer had a dream year not only did he pick 27 wickets in the five Tests in which he played, but he also won the player of the match award in the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) Final against India. As for Ali and Afridi, both of them picked 41 and 47 wickets in nine games respectively.
