Umran Malik is one of the brightest upcoming stars in the Indian Cricket. He has been making headlines with his searing pace and bounce in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. Turning up for Hyderabad, Malik has consistently clocked 150 clicks in the competition. He has been one of the fastest bowlers this season and also holds the record for bowling the fastest delivery of this season.

Ahead of the match against Kolkata and Hyderabad, Pakistan speedster, Shoaib Akhtar stated that he wanted Umran Malik to break his record of the fastest delivery (161.3 kmph). Having said that the former Pakistan pacer showed concern for not getting injured in the process as he wants him to play for a longer duration without suffering major injuries.
"I want to see him have a long career. A few days ago, someone was congratulating me as it's been 20 years since I bowled the fastest delivery but no one has been able to break the record. But I said, 'There must be someone who can smash this record'. I will be happy if Umran breaks my record. But he needs to ensure that he doesn't get injured in the process. I want to see him playing for a long stretch without any injuries," Akhtar said during an interaction on Sportskeeda.
Akhtar wants Umran Malik to represent the Indian team in the future as he believes that the young pacer belongs to perform on the big stage.
"I want to see him on the world stage as he belongs there. At present, there are not many people who can cross the 150 kmph mark. We have seen that Umran has been bowling consistently at that pace. I want Umran to that 100-mph mark at the back of his mind. I will be happy if he enters the 100-mph club. But he has to stay away from injuries which can halt his career," he added.
Umran Malik bowled beautifully in Hyderabad’s last game against Kolkata. He picked 3 important wickets while giving away 33 runs in 4 overs. Overall, he has managed to pick 18 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 22.06.
