Dinesh Karthik has been in superb form of late. The ongoing Indian T20 League 2022 has seen him play the role of a finisher to perfection. As a matter of fact, he has been one of Bangalore's best players in the ongoing edition.
So far, he has scored 287 runs in 14 games at an average of 57.40 this season. Moreover, he has a whopping strike rate of 191.33 as well. His superb form has resulted in him being recalled to the Indian squad. Karthik was recently named in India's squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa.
It is to be noted that the keeper-batter last played an international game in 2019. Thus, he was really pleased after making a comeback to the national side. He also stated that this was his "most special comeback". He also spoke about how a lot of people had given up on him.
“I am very happy. I am very satisfied. This is my most special comeback because a lot of people had given up on me. For me to comeback and do what I did, practice the way I did, so many special things have happened in the lead up to the rock-shell and how I practised post that," said Dinesh Karthik, while speaking on the Bangalore-based franchise's official website.
Further on, the Tamil Nadu cricketer said that he was indebted to Bangalore for picking him, and assigning him the role of a finisher. He had heaps of praises for Bangalore's head coach Sanjay Bangar and Director of Cricket Operations Mike Hesson. Besides, Karthik played an influential role in ensuring that the 2016-finalists make it to the playoffs in this edition.
“I think the clarity that they gave me for me to execute the role that I wanted to do, in many ways I am indebted to Bangalore for picking me and giving me that role, believing in me and then me coming out here and trying to do my best for team Bangalore. So, it’s all and all a very very happy feeling,” he added.
