After a terrible show from Team India bowlers on day one, fans were eagerly hoping for a better performance on day two of the ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final. Australia finished day one with 327 runs on the board for three wickets in 85 overs. Travis Head was not out on 146* runs while Steve Smith was batting on 95* runs.
However, Smith notched up his 31st Test ton and Head also scored 150 runs. Finally, Head got our on 163 runs off 174 balls, including 25 fours and one six. They put up a partnership of 285 runs for the fourth wicket. Then, Smith got out after scoring 121 runs off 268 balls, including 19 boundaries.
India finished day two with 151 runs for five wickets, still trailing by 318 runs
After that, some contributions came from Alex Carey and others as Australia got bundled out for 469 runs in 121.3 overs. For India, Mohammed Siraj took four wickets while both Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Shami grabbed two wickets each. Ravindra Jadeja managed only one wicket. After that, skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill came out to bat. They gave a good start but both of those wickets fell in a span of five deliveries as India were at 30 runs for two wickets in 6.4 overs. Rohit scored 15 runs off 26 balls while Gill got out on 13 runs off 15 balls. Then, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli were looking to steady the ship.
But, they failed also cheaply. Pujara and Kohli both scored 14 runs each as India were at 71 runs for four wickets in 18.2 overs. Then, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja put up a 71-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Jadeja got out on 48 runs off 51 balls, including seven fours and one six. Then, Ajinkya Rahane remained not out on 29* runs off 71 balls and KS Bharat remained not out on five runs off 14 balls. Thus, India finished day two with a score of 151 runs for five wickets in 38 overs, still trailing by 318 runs. All five Aussie bowlers took one wicket each on day two.
