As of now, it is still unclear whether the Asia Cup is going to take place in Pakistan or not in 2023. A final decision will be taken in March. But, as per reports, India will not visit Pakistan and for that, the Men in Green will also boycott the 2023 ODI World Cup. Now, regarding that, Kamran Akmal said that his country need to boycott the 50-over World Cup in India in 2023.

"If India do not agree to come for the Asia Cup, we should not go to India to play the 2023 World Cup there.” - Kamran Akmal

While speaking on the Nadir Ali podcast, Kamran said: "If India do not agree to come for the Asia Cup, we should not go to India to play the 2023 World Cup there. Hamaari bhi respect hai (We are also well respected). We have been world champions too, have topped rankings in all formats and have won the Champions Trophy too.”

“This is between two governments; until they are on the same page, the teams won't go with each other. We have to see how long it goes," Kamran Akmal further added. It seemed that the former Pakistan batter had no issue if his country boycotted such a mega event. But, they went for the 20-20 World Cup in India in 2016. Speaking about Akmal’s career, he played 268 international matches across all three formats for Pakistan. In those matches, he scored 6871 runs in 283 innings, at an average of 26.73.

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue are quite stubborn in their stance on not visiting Pakistan for the tournament since the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Even, reports came out that team India might lay all of their Asia Cup matches in UAE while the rest of the matches will be played in Pakistan.
