'How's the Jos' - Twitter bows down to Jos Buttler as his century propels Rajasthan to their second victory of the season

The trend of high-scoring games in the Indian T20 league continues as the first match on Saturday between Mumbai and Rajasthan saw some big sixes being hit from both sides. Mumbai search for their first victory of this season as they lost to the 2008-champions by 23 runs. On the other hand, Rajasthan became the first team to win their first two matches of the 2022 edition.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Mumbai's bowlers kept Rajasthan silent until the third over. Basil Thampi's introduction led to carnage as Jos Buttler hit him for 26 runs in the fourth over. After which, he continued to take the aggressive route and looked like a man on a mission.

Buttler and Samson put together an 82-run partnership as both of them took Mumbai's bowlers to the cleaners. Sanju Samson was dismissed after scoring 30 off 21 deliveries. While the Rohit Sharma-led side would have had a sigh of relief on watching the Rajasthan captain walk back to the pavilion, their happiness was short-lived as Shimron Hetmyer was in some monstrous form as well.

He went on to score a quickfire 35, as he scored them in just 14 balls. However, the star was well and truly Jos Buttler who scored a brilliant hundred. During the 19th over of the first innings, he got to his second Indian T20 league century. Rajasthan ended up scoring a superb score of 193.

Having to chase 194 to win the game, it was never going to be easy for the five-time champions. Besides, they lost two quick wickets in the powerplay overs. Trent Boult was once again superb in the initial phase of the second innings. Just when things seemed to get out of hand for Mumbai, Ishan Kishan joined force with Tilak Varma to put an 81-run partnership.

The keeper-batter had to depart after scoring a half-century due to an unreal catch by Navdeep Saini. Varma too got to his maiden half-century in the Indian T20 league and impressed one and all. He didn't last long after that as he too perished. Mumbai then stumbled and kept losing wickets. Kieron Pollard tried his best to win the game for his side but to no avail. At the end, Mumbai fell short of their target by 23 runs
