Former veteran Indian batter Suresh Raina was one of the biggest shocks for the fans of the Indian T20 League. He went unsold in the mega auction for the 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League. Notably, he is famous among the fans as Mr. IPL for his consistent performances in the league.
There were speculations that the association between Raina and Chennai franchise had come to an end. It was due to the fact that Chennai didn’t retain him in the auction of 2022. Few of them felt that the 35-year-old may have tough relations with the captain MS Dhoni.
Recently, a few days back, the VELS Institute of Science and Technology and Advanced Studies in Chennai awarded an honorary doctorate degree to Suresh Raina. Although, there was no statement either from Raina or Chennai, and his visit to the Lord’s with skipper MS Dhoni resulted in ending the rumors among the fans. The fans have also started speculating about the possible comeback of Suresh Raina into the Chennai
I am here due to the love the people of Chennai have shown to me over the years - Suresh Raina
Raina also expressed himself on the occasion, he talked about the feeling of receiving the honor from the university.
"Receiving this honorary doctorate is a very big moment for me, not only because I am here at this outstanding institution but also due to the love the people of Chennai have shown to me over the years. This city is like home for me and there's nothing that compares with the connection I have with the fans over here,” World Cup winner batter was quoted as saying during his address.
Speaking of the Chennai camp, then the senior all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was named as the skipper of the team for the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League. But due to the successive defeats in the league stage compelled Jadeja to hand over captaincy again to MS Dhoni.
The 2022 edition ended up as one of the worst seasons for the Chennai team as they could win only four matches and lost 10 matches.
Here's how Twitter reacted to Raina being awarded a doctorate:

If rumours are true and jadeja wants to leave csk i respect that. Most csk fans will abuse u but some of us know that ur a human and not some commodity. Csk didn't make u, u made urself through hardwork. U deserve respect and thank u for the great moments! pic.twitter.com/yv7JSmCbrN
